Falafel Burger

I love finding ways to replace meat from our diet. We still eat meat, but less, and we like it, we feel good about it.

Sometimes we crave fast-food dishes and we make it at home but our way. I am still gonna make meat burgers, but less, so instead, I’m making meat-free burgers to enjoy with our fries.

Because who doesn’t like fries? 🙂 This recipe is with chickpeas, also known as falafel.

Since I tasted for the first time falafels I fell in love with them, they’re so tasty, right?

If you want to minimize the meat consumption in your family, you can make burgers in a ton of other varieties: with chickpeas, beans, potatoes, lentils etc.

Ingredients:

  • 150 g of dried chickpeas
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of cumin
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • cilantro and parsley
  • a tablespoon of flour
  • salt and pepper

Start the day before by washing the chickpeas and soak them overnight. The next day drain the chickpeas very well and add them into a food processor along with all the above ingredients.

I used a vertical blender for this recipe so I put the ingredients into a large bowl and I blend it well. Put the falafel mixture in the fridge for 1 hour and after that, form patties to fry or grill them.

Mine were a little too big, so you can make them flatter. After this, I made them smaller to cook more evenly. In the meantime, slice some cucumber, tomatoes, and onion.

Cook some fries to go along with the burgers. 🙂
