Review on the Book ROOM-Emma Donoghue

This is my personal review of the book Room written so beautifully by Emma Donoghue.

So, this book is AGAIN, one of the favorites that I read this year. I simply loved it.

It’s such a simple reading because it’s narrated by a «5-year-old boy». But of course, it’s deeper than that.

The story is about a 19-year-old girl who is abducted, raped and kept captive for 7 long years. In the second year, she’s been captive, she gave birth to Jack, a bright and intelligent sweet boy.

I think Jack is my favorite character from all the books I’ve read this year.

When her son came to life, everything had more meaning for her. I know this sentence is kinda rough because after all, she had a baby with her rapist. But she didn’t saw Jack like that at all. He was her boy. Jack was her ray of hope. He lighted her days and gave her hope to go on and not give up.

This seems like is such an easy book to read, but it has so many deep sentences, that you have to stop and think. Not because it’s hard to read, but because of the argument in the book.

When I read a book, I always put myself in that situation, to see how I would react if that would happen to me. And it’s hard to even think about it.

Jack and his Ma spent their days in Room, that being the place where they were held captive.

His Ma tried teaching Jack everything she knew and remembered and did a pretty good job. She doesn’t let Jack watch TV so much, instead, they play a lot of games, read books and make many entertaining things, much more interesting than watching TV.

For me, this book was one of the best I’ve read, I’ve gone through it in just a few days. It was that easy to read.

The most interesting thing about this book was the fact that Jack has never seen the outside world and it’s so fun seeing him wonder about so many things. So, when they escape, it’s such a shock to him to see things that he’s seen only on TV. As a matter of fact, he thought that those things were never even real, just on TV. So, imagine his shock when he was outside.

All in all is a lovely book to read and I give it 5 BIG stars.
