Red Currant Oatmeal

If you like oatmeal, you need to give this Red Currant Oatmeal a try. It’s sweet and sour and quick to make.

Oatmeal «season» has officially started and I’m loving it. I like having oatmeal for breakfast quite often, maybe a few times a week. Not every day, to not get bored with it.

Oatmeal is really simple to make. I encourage you to give it a try and to play with the ingredients. My favorite one right now is this Red Currant Oatmeal. I add just a touch of honey so that I can really taste the sourness of the red currants.

Ditch the store-bought cereals, or quick cooking oats and make some delicious oatmeal from scratch. It doesn’t take long and you take advantage of all the health benefits that oatmeal has.

Ingredients:

  • 60 g of old-fashioned oats
  • 220 ml of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 100 g of frozen red currant

Add all the ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil. After it starts cooking, turn the heat down to a minimum and stir continuously for 10-15 minutes, until it’s creamy and as thick or thin as you like.

You can add more or fewer oats and milk, depending on how thick or thin you want your oatmeal to be.

Pour the oatmeal into a bowl and add more frozen red currants on top. Let it cool down for 5 minutes. In the meantime, make a coffee. 🙂

Serve warm.
